Editor's Note: The lack of Northern NY news posted on this site is not due to a lack of things happening around here, but because I feel it's far more important for every member of our armed forces and every law enforcement officer in the United States to do their sworn duty of protecting our Constitution and our civil rights. The crimes in all of Northern NY in the last 200 years combined don't equal the crimes that our government is ordering everyday from Washington DC.  Bush alone is said to be guilty of breaking over 750 laws that our Constitution very clearly states no US President can ever break.  In fact our Constitution makes it very clear that it's our military and law enforcements duty to remove a President from office if they commit any act of treason.  Based on Bush's own words and the wording of our Constitution, he is guilty of dozens of counts of high treason, as are most of his cabinet members.

9/29/2006 - Domestic spying program gets 7-day
 extension from Detroit judge
Judge Anna Diggs Taylor today refused the Bush administration's request to issue a "stay" of her Order in the ACLU v. NSA case. When Judge Taylor ruled previously that the President's warrantless eavesdropping violated both the criminal law and the U.S. Constitution, she issued an Order enjoining the Bush administration from continuing its warrantless eavesdropping program.
The parties agreed to "stay" that Order until Judge Taylor could rule on the administration's request that the Order be stayed until the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals rules on its appeal. Today, Judge Taylor refused the administration's request and instead gave them only seven days to comply with her Order.

The US War Crimes Act of 1996 makes it a felony to commit grave violations of the Geneva Conventions. The Washington Post recently reported that the Bush administration is quietly circulating draft legislation to eliminate crucial parts of the War Crimes Act. Observers on The Hill say the Administration plans to slip it through Congress this fall while there still is a guaranteed Republican majority--perhaps as part of the military appropriations bill, the proposals for Guantánamo tribunals or a new catch-all "anti-terrorism" package. Why are they doing it, and how can they be stopped?
American prohibitions on abuse of prisoners go back to the Lieber Code promulgated by Abraham Lincoln in 1863. The first international Geneva Convention dates from the following year.
After World War II, international law protecting prisoners of war and all noncombatants was codified in the Geneva Conventions. They were ratified by the US Senate and, under Article II of the Constitution,
they thereby became the law of the land.
